Kogi PDP vice chairman slumps and dies while playing lawn tennis

The unfortunate demise of the Kogi PDP vice chairman has saddened many. According to a statement by Bode Ogunmola, the state publicity secretary of PDP, Chief Kola Ojo collapsed and passed away while playing lawn tennis at the Ogudu GRA Sports Centre in Lagos. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Chief Kola Ojo was in his 60s. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Justice to be served as trial for Mompha’s alleged N33bn fraud resumes on January 15th

The trial of Internet personality Ismaila Mustapha aka Mompha is scheduled to continue on January 15th, 2020 at a Federal High Court in Lagos.   Mompha was apprehended by EFCC operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja on October 19th. He was subsequently arraigned before the court on November 25th on a 14-count charge relating to Money Laundering and suspected internet fraud. His company, Ismalob Global Investment, was also implicated in the case.   The EFCC accused Mompha of using Ismalob Global Investment, his company, to retain a total sum of N18.05 billion between 2015 and 2019. Man gets burnt while trying to steal cables from a transformer in Osun (photo)

A man in Osun suffered burns while attempting to steal cables from a transformer. The 26-year-old, identified as Ojo Ibrahim, was caught in the act at Araromi street in Ijebu-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun state. As per the state police command, Ojo ventured to the transformer house at night when the power had been cut off, but electricity was unexpectedly restored and he sustained severe burns during the attempted vandalism. Residents in the area discovered him in agony the next morning. He was subsequently handed over to the police and is expected to face charges in court soon.

EFCC Searches Shehu Sani’s Home in Abuja Over Alleged Fraud

Officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) carried out a search at the Abuja residence of former Senator Shehu Sani on December 8th. The raid, which took place at the apartment in Wuse, Abuja around 3:30pm, aimed to find evidence against the ex-Kaduna senator.   Last week, Sani was arrested by the anti-corruption agency for allegedly extorting $20,000 from Sani Daudu, the owner of ASD Motors. The former senator, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial district from 2015 to 2019, reportedly accepted the money from Dauda with the promise of passing it on to Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman of the EFCC.
