In Korinya town of Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, an angry mob lynched a suspected notorious robber to death.
According to witnesses, the suspect known as “Natho” had been terrorizing the rural town for a long time and met his end on Monday, January 6, after allegedly snatching money from a popular businessman in the community.
It was reported that the alleged thief and his gang forcefully made away with valuables belonging to the businessman, with this being the fourth time they had targeted the victim.
Upon hearing about the incident, the locals decided to set up roadblocks at the two exits of the community to apprehend the alleged culprits.
The police swiftly swooped on the suspect, arresting him and taking him into custody, but the angry mob was not satisfied. They mobilized to the police post and forcefully retrieved the suspect, whom they then set ablaze.
Benue Command’s Police Public Relation Officer, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident and stated that the mob had taken away the suspect who was initially apprehended by the police.
