Call for Implementation of N30,000 Minimum Wage by NLC in Gombe State
In Gombe State, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Yusuf Aish, is urging the government to fully implement the N30,000 minimum wage. During the May Day celebration themed "People First" at the Pantami Stadium, Aish emphasized the need for complete enforcement of the minimum wage, pointing out that its implementation in Gombe State is still incomplete.
Aish highlighted disparities in the implementation across various sectors, noting that the health sector is at 65 per cent compliance while other civil service sectors are yet to reach full implementation. He also raised concerns about the challenges faced by local government workers, with some areas unable to even pay 10 per cent of the minimum wage.
