Commencing the probe into controversial foreign and domestic loans and grants secured by the past administration of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the Kaduna State House of Assembly initiated an investigation on Tuesday.
In the plenary session presided over by Speaker, Yusuf Liman Dahiru, a committee was established to conduct the probe.
The committee’s mandate includes conducting a fact-finding mission into financial transactions, loans, grants, and project implementations from 2015 to 2023.
Noteworthy personalities such as El-Rufai, former Speakers of the 8th and 9th Assembly, former commissioners of Finance, and ex-commissioners of Budget and Planning have been summoned by the probe panel.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State expressed concerns over the significant debt burden inherited from the previous administration, which he claimed was impeding the current government’s operations.
