Pioneer Students at Hensard University Receive Generous Grants

A substantial grant worth millions of Naira has been provided by one of the partners of the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation, HSDF, to aid the pioneer students of Hensard University. According to a statement released by the Foundation on Monday, the support is designated for students enrolled in the degree programs and the University’s Foundation School.

The Vice-Chancellor of Hensard University, Professor Dileep Kumar, outlined the allocation of the grant as follows: Entrepreneurship & Leadership Training N100,000, Research & Innovation Support Fund N100,000, Hensard Philanthropy Fund N50,000, Registration/Acceptance Fee N150,000.

Additionally, students are now required to pay N200,000 for accommodation and N50,000 as a medical deposit.

This grant is applicable to all duly registered students, regardless of whether they are in degree programs or the Foundation School, Professor Kumar confirmed.

The statement clarified that this grant is separate from the earlier N100 million contribution made by the Foundation towards partial tuition fee payment for all scholarship recipients. Further grants for students are anticipated in the future.

Professor Kumar expressed gratitude to the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation and its partner for their generosity, while also encouraging other organizations to support initiatives that enhance access to top-notch, distinctive education at Hensard University.

He emphasized, “The students are grateful for the assistance, which will help alleviate the financial burden on their parents.”

In alignment with the University’s principles regarding discipline and emphasis on preparing students for leadership roles, stringent dress code guidelines are in place. Parents and students are urged to contact the Students’ Affairs Office for specifics on the dress code.

Situated in Toru-Orua, Hensard University is the premier private university in Bayelsa State, offering a fully residential educational environment that prioritizes entrepreneurship. The university’s practical approach to education is evident in its facilities such as laboratories, fish ponds, poultry, and the Film School, where industry professionals guide students through hands-on experiences in enterprise ownership and management.

The official opening of the University is scheduled for April 29, 2024.
