One Arrest Made in Katsina for Cable Theft as Police Take Action


Collaborating with local vigilante members, the Katsina State Police Command successfully apprehended Urwatu Habibu, a resident of Kofar Guga Quarters, Katsina, on charges of vandalizing and pilfering armoured cables.

On 4th April 2024, at approximately 1200 hrs, the 20-year-old suspect, commonly known as “Dandamaso”, was caught along Ring Road, Katsina metropolis, in possession of a large quantity of aluminum cables believed to be stolen, as stated by ASP Abubakar Aliyu Sadiq, the Command’s Public Relations Officer.

During the investigation, ASP Sadiq mentioned that the suspect failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin of the seized items and later admitted to the crime.

“Dandamaso implicated an accomplice, Abubakar Kabir, also known as Abu Tirai, who is currently evading capture,” disclosed Sadiq.

The suspect also confessed to previous instances of stealing aluminum cables from the same location and disposing of them through an unidentified receiver who is now on the run.

ASP Sadiq highlighted that the pursuit of the fugitive accomplices is in progress while the investigation remains active.
