According to the Adara Development Association, a total of 35 security breaches were reported between Adara land in Kaduna and Niger State during the first quarter of 2024. This resulted in over 29 villages being attacked, 41 persons killed, 24 injured, and 222 people kidnapped. Many of the kidnapped individuals are yet to be released.

In a statement released by the National President of the association, Sebastian Barde, it was disclosed that over 35 houses were destroyed, with a total ransom of N88 million paid during the first quarter.

In terms of casualties, Kachia and Kajuru LGAs reported 20 and 21 fatalities respectively. Additionally, 98, 112, and 12 individuals were kidnapped in Kachia, Kajuru, and Niger State Adara communities respectively. Ransoms totaling N23 million, N58 million, and N7 million were paid by these communities.

Recent reports revealed new attacks, such as the one in Ungwan Machu, Chibiya, Maro Ward on March 31, where a woman was killed and her body mutilated. The bandits prevented the burial of the body. In another incident on March 31 at Ungwan Maigari, Ankwa Ward, Kachia, six persons were kidnapped. Additionally, six individuals were abducted from Gadnaji in Agunu Ward on April 3, 2024.

The National President expressed concerns over the continuous trend of massacres, mass abductions, and exorbitant ransom demands from the Adara community. He urged the government to take proactive measures to address these challenges and ensure the safety of the people.

Barde emphasized the need for unity and vigilance among the Adara people in the face of the ongoing security threats. He called on the government to fulfill its duty of protecting the lives and properties of its citizens.

He highlighted the past atrocities faced by the Adara community, including killings, destruction of property, and the disbandment of the First Class Adara Chiefdom. This has led to the displacement of over 112 villages in Kaduna State.
