Police in Kaduna apprehend 3 alleged members of a street gang

Three individuals suspected to be part of a street gang causing fear among the residents of Basawa Area in Sabon Gari Zaria LGA have been detained by the Kaduna State Police Command.

Confirming the arrests, ASP Mansir Hassan, the spokesperson for the command, revealed in a statement to reporters in Kaduna on Wednesday that the arrests took place on Tuesday around 1600hrs.

Hassan explained, “During a routine patrol around 1600hrs, the operatives apprehended three individuals identified as Shamsu Abdullahi, Hussaini Aliyu, and Muhammad Ahmed, all hailing from Zaria City and located in the Mammy Market area of Basawa.”

Upon conducting a search on the suspects, three sharp stainless cutlasses and a fork sharp knife hidden under their garments were discovered.

Upon questioning, the suspects were unable to provide a valid reason for being in possession of the dangerous weapons.

Investigations carried out by law enforcement agents indicated that the suspects were part of a criminal group responsible for instilling fear in the residents of Basawa and its neighboring areas.

Subsequently, the three suspects were swiftly arraigned in court to face prosecution.
