Opposition lawmakers set deadline for Tinubu to address security challenges

A three-month ultimatum has been issued by the minority caucus in the House of Representatives to the President Tinubu-led administration to tackle the insecurity crisis in Nigeria.

Following a meeting at the National Assembly, the lawmakers stated that if the government does not take action, they will mobilize Nigerians to address the situation themselves.

Representing the caucus after a closed-door session, Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda expressed the opposition’s concern over the prevailing insecurity in the country.

“We have thoroughly assessed the current security challenges in our nation and have reached a consensus that the current state of affairs in Nigeria, where lives are being lost daily, is unacceptable,” he remarked.

“Hence, we urge the government to urgently implement measures to restore normalcy in the security landscape of the country. The caucus has set a three-month deadline for the government to achieve this,” Chinda added.

“Should there be no positive change within the stipulated period, the caucus will proceed to raise awareness and mobilize Nigerians to take charge of their own security,” he concluded.
