Former Benue Chief of Staff’s wife and cook released by kidnappers

Following their abduction by gunmen in Makurdi last Friday evening, the wife of former Chief of Staff to Benue Governor, Terwase Orbunde, and her housemaid have been set free.

After an undisclosed ransom was paid to the kidnappers, Mrs. Abigail Kashimana Orbunde and Ms. Patience Ogute were released on Tuesday. The kidnappers had initially demanded N100 million.

They spent four days in captivity before being released, and have now rejoined their family members. They were then promptly taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

The gunmen targeted Orbunde after he had inspected a farm. The abduction occurred along Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road in Makurdi, the state capital.

During the attack, Orbunde sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm while his wife and househelp were taken away by the assailants.

After enduring long treks in the bush without sustenance, Mrs. Orbunde expressed gratitude to God for their rescue. Meanwhile, her husband is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital for his injuries.

Orbunde also expressed his thanks to God and everyone who supported the family through prayers and financial contributions to secure the release of his wife and cook.
