16 Suspected Cultists Apprehended by Police in Anambra, 21 Others Declared Wanted

Amongst those accused of being part of a notorious cult group, the Anambra State Police Command has successfully captured 16 individuals and publicized 21 others as fugitives.

As articulated in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in Awka on Saturday, this accomplishment was the result of heightened endeavors to curb the reemergence of cult-driven homicides in Awka, the capital of the state.

The Police Command, according to Ikenga, managed to trace and apprehend a minimum of 16 infamous cult members who had been engaged in various violent activities in Anambra.

Furthermore, he highlighted that the State Police Command is actively seeking the whereabouts of 21 other cultists who are presently evading arrest.

Following a sequence of intelligence-guided manhunts, the detained cultists, as per his explanation, have been imprisoned upon the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye.

The CP urged the Special Anti-Cult Squad, SPACS, to heighten their endeavors and locate those fugitives who are still at large among the identified cultists.

In addition, the Commissioner urged Community and Religious leaders to condemn the scourge of cultism prevailing in society.
