The Dismissal of Head Coach Stanley Eguma by Rivers United

Rivers United has taken the decision to part ways with Stanley Eguma, the head coach of the Nigerian Premier Football League team.

The club made this decision immediately after Rivers United suffered a 2-1 loss to Remo Stars last Sunday.

Eguma, an experienced tactician, was given the task by the club to secure a victory against Sky Blue Stars.

As a result of this defeat, the team found itself in the 13th spot in the league standings.

Following his dismissal, his assistant Evan Ogenyi assumed the leadership position during the team’s recent 0-0 draw against Kwara United on Thursday.

Known as ‘Capelo’, Eguma successfully steered the club to victory in the 2021 NPFL season and also secured a second-place finish in the 2016 domestic top-flight tournament. This achievement was notably the first for Rivers United FC after the merger of Sharks FC and Dolphins FC by sponsors, the Rivers State Government.
