Tragic Road Accident Takes Three Lives in Ondo State

Three individuals lost their lives in a fatal road collision on the Akungba-Ikare Road in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State last Friday.

Reports indicate that the accident involved a Toyota Camry with license plate LND 592 GX and two commercial buses.

An eyewitness recounted that the driver of the car unexpectedly opened the door, striking the motorcycle carrying the victims, causing them to tumble onto the road where they were subsequently hit by another oncoming vehicle.

The victims tragically perished on the scene, while the car driver fled in fear of retaliation, leading to angry locals setting the vehicle ablaze.

Confirming the incident, Ondo Sector Commander of the Road Safety Commission, Ezekiel Son’Allah, attributed the accident to reckless overtaking and violation of traffic regulations by the involved vehicles.

“The wrongful overtaking and route violation led to the deaths of three individuals. The deceased were promptly transported to Aduloju Hospital Akungba by law enforcement officers,” stated Son’Allah.

In urging motorists to adhere to traffic laws, the FRSC chief suggested the installation of speed bumps on the road to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
