40 Rooms Building in Kwara Engulfed by a Devastating Fire


Early on Friday in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, a fire outbreak wreaked havoc on a compound with 40 rooms.

The incident took place at 02.40 a.m at E143, Ile Muse, off Emir’s road, within the Ilorin metropolis.

The state fire service firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the fire which had already impacted nine rooms among the total 40 in the compound.

In Ilorin on Friday, Hassan Adekunle, the spokesperson for the state fire service, reported, “Upon their arrival, the firefighters faced a significant challenge. However, equipped with training, expertise, and unwavering commitment, they combated the inferno with relentless determination.

At 03:42 hours, the fire was successfully brought under control, showcasing the team’s indomitable spirit and professionalism.

An investigation revealed the cause of the disaster; a resident’s careless mistake resulted in the catastrophe. The individual had neglected to properly extinguish a charcoal cooking fire from the previous night, leading to widespread destruction,” the spokesperson disclosed.

Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, the director of the state fire service, visibly moved by the event, emphasized the significance of fire safety and awareness with the statement, “This unfortunate incident emphasizes the vital importance of fire safety and consciousness.

He urged everyone to learn from this and maintain vigilance in their daily routines, asserting, “In the face of danger, the firefighters exhibited immense bravery, serving as a beacon of hope in the darkness. Their selfless acts will always be remembered, a remarkable demonstration of valor and dedication to humanity.
