The Renewed Hope Programme for South-West Women Launched by President’s Wife in Abeokuta

Announced during the launch event held at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu revealed that a total of N60 million will be distributed to 120 women from the six South-West states through The Renewed Hope Initiative. Additionally, she mentioned that N10 million will be allocated to 100 individuals with disabilities to boost their current businesses.

Explaining further, Mrs. Tinubu stated, “We will be supporting 20 women farmers in each state with N500,000 each. We will hand over a sum of N10 million per state for the South-West region to the first ladies of Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo states, who are the Renewed Hope Initiative state coordinators, for distribution among the beneficiaries in their respective states.”

Aligned with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Renewed Hope Initiative aims to empower farmers, with a specific focus on young female farmers (75%) and young male farmers (25%). These beneficiaries will undergo specialized training to enhance their agricultural endeavors.

In his address, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, highlighted the success of various schemes such as Oko’owo Dapo and Ogun Broiler Empowerment in supporting women entrepreneurs. He also mentioned the Ibi-Dero initiative, focused on maternal and child healthcare, emphasizing the reduction in maternal and child mortality rates in the state.

Emphasizing the importance of uplifting women in agriculture, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the state coordinator of Renewed Hope Initiative in Ogun State, applauded Mrs. Tinubu’s efforts in promoting agricultural education by sponsoring students to Belarus. She stressed that supporting women in agriculture will enhance the agricultural value chain in the state.

Commending the initiative, the South West Zonal Coordinator for the Renewed Hope Initiative, Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, highlighted the role of the program in improving the agriculture sector and encouraged beneficiaries to utilize the support effectively.
