New addition to APC as Ebonyi legislator leaves PDP behind

In a surprising turn of events, Hon. Victor Chidi Nwoke, the representative for Abakaliki North Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, has made the switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

During the inauguration of the local Government Committee of BERWO, the Pet Project of the Governor’s wife, the lawmaker explained that the constant and unresolved crises within the PDP at both state and national levels were his reason for defecting.

Citing the accomplishments and leadership prowess of State Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, he expressed his admiration for the Governor’s focus on the People’s Charter of Needs.

He highlighted that the party’s internal discord, particularly between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike, had caused significant unrest within the PDP.

Their leadership struggles have caused a significant exodus of members to other political parties, adding to the party’s existing challenges.

Joining Hon. Nwoke in his defection is Labour Party Chairman of Abakaliki LGA, Mr. Innocent Oriji, along with former Abakaliki legislative council leader Hon. Emmanuel Nwandegu and a large number of supporters.

Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the state chairman of the APC, warmly received the lawmaker and his followers, assuring them of fair treatment and active involvement in party affairs.

On behalf of the state’s Governor, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru extended a warm welcome to the Honourable Member and his supporters, promising complete inclusivity for all.
