The Nigerian Army’s Commitment to Enhancing the Skills and Capability of Health Personnel

In an effort to improve the quality of healthcare services provided to troops, the Nigerian Army Medical Corps is focused on enhancing the skills of its health personnel.

Speaking at the commencement of the corps’ first quarter Commander’s Conference in Kaduna, Brig. Gen. Samson Okoigi, the Acting Commander of the Army Medical Corps, emphasized the importance of building the capacity of health professionals.

The conference, themed “Efficient Human and Material Resource Management in the Face of Contemporary Security Challenges: Imperatives for Sustaining a 21st Century Nigerian Army Hospital in a Joint Environment,” is a four-day event.

Gen. Okoigi highlighted that the Army is also prioritizing the recruitment of more healthcare professionals to improve professionalism and deliver quality healthcare services transparently.

He explained that choosing Kaduna as the conference venue, instead of the usual location at the Corps HQ in Lagos, was due to the significant role played by the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna (NARHK).

The hospital has been instrumental in providing healthcare services, particularly in support of Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency operations in the North East and North West regions.
