The Federal Government forms committee to mark Tinubu’s one-year anniversary

An inter-ministerial committee consisting of 28 members has been established by the Federal Government to coordinate and supervise the events commemorating President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office.

During the committee’s inauguration at his office, George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, highlighted the significance of the celebration in showcasing the government’s achievements and dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda.

President Bola Tinubu was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission on March 1, 2023, after securing 8,794,726 votes to emerge as president-elect.

Tinubu took the oath of office on May 29, 2023.

In a statement released on Friday by Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information and Public Relations, George Akume was quoted as emphasizing, “The purpose of this celebration is to be accountable to Nigerians by highlighting the achievements of the current administration over the past year and reaffirming the government’s focus and commitment to the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda for a positive impact on the socio-economic well-being of Nigerians.”

The planned activities include press conferences, updates on various sectors, the First Lady’s initiatives, national dialogues, the launch of the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund, and a national address, among others.

To ensure effective implementation, 11 sub-committees have been set up, each focusing on different aspects such as security, media, protocol, and accommodation.

Imohiosen remarked, “To guarantee a successful and seamless celebration, the SGF inaugurated the following 11 Sub-Committees: Church Service Sub-Committee; Juma’at Sub-Committee; Protocol Sub-Committee; Venue and Entertainment Sub-Committee; Medical Sub-Committee; Security Sub-Committee; Media and Publicity Sub-Committee; Parade Sub-Committee; Public Lecture/Symposium Sub-Committee; Accommodation Sub-Committee; and Secretariat Sub-Committee.”

Chaired by the SGF, the committee comprises government officials and heads of relevant ministries, tasked with planning and executing the approved activities and involving necessary stakeholders for the success of the anniversary celebration.
