Erik ten Hag praises Jadon Sancho for stellar performance in Champions League

In a recent Champions League semi-final match, Jadon Sancho impressed Erik ten Hag, demonstrating why Manchester United acquired him and highlighting his significant value.

Since his £73 million ($91 million) transfer to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, the 24-year-old winger struggled to meet expectations and faced challenges.

Sancho was removed from the first-team squad last September after suggesting on social media that he was being unfairly targeted.

Following Ten Hag’s comments about his subpar performance in training prior to a match against Arsenal, Sancho voiced his dissatisfaction.

Subsequently, he was sent back to Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the season and had a standout performance in their 1-0 Champions League semi-final win over Paris Saint-Germain, sparking speculation about his future.

Ten Hag expressed his satisfaction with Sancho’s display, emphasizing the winger’s value to Manchester United and praising his performance.

Ten Hag also addressed recent reports suggesting a mass exodus of players from United, dismissing them as exaggerated and inaccurate.

As United prepares to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League without several key players, including Marcus Rashford, Ten Hag remains uncertain about the forward’s return.

Rashford, along with Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, and Raphael Varane, will be sidelined, while Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes are doubtful for the upcoming match against Crystal Palace.
