APC stalwart, Chukwuemeka Eze, expresses disapproval of threats against Fubara

In response to the recent threats of violence directed at Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, by Bright Amaewhule, President General of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), a political pressure group associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a notable figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has voiced strong condemnation.

Amaewhule’s warning to Fubara and his supporters, issued during an event in Omagwa, Ikwerre local government area, cautioned them against disparaging remarks towards Nyesom Wike, the former governor of the state and current Federal Capital Territory minister.

Eze, in a statement released on Thursday, urged Amaewhule and his associates to abandon their tendencies towards disrespecting the esteemed position of the Governor of Rivers State, advising them to acknowledge the Governor’s peaceful demeanor instead of mistaking it for ignorance.

He suggested that such inflammatory language used by Amaewhule could warrant investigation by relevant security agencies, emphasizing the need for swift intervention by the police to prevent further potential acts of misconduct.

The APC member stressed the importance of averting a situation where threats and political violence are monopolized in Rivers State or any other region, condemning the GDI president’s public threats towards a sitting Governor without consideration for legal consequences.

Eze commended Governor Fubara for his peaceful approach but cautioned those misinterpreting his behavior as weakness and leveraging it to incite trouble, reminding them that the Governor possesses the authority to sternly address any insubordination.

Regarding the ongoing criticism labeling Governor Fubara as ungrateful for resisting external influence in governance, Eze defended the Governor’s commitment to serving the people and upholding the Nigerian Constitution instead of yielding to external pressures.

He further called upon President Bola Tinubu to intervene by reining in Nyesom Wike and his supporters, emphasizing the need for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and other security agencies to take action against anyone instigating unrest in Rivers State.
