The widow of the late Taraba Chief Judge claims her life is in danger

Allegations have been made by Mrs. Destiny Andetur, the widow of the former Chief Justice of Taraba State, Justice Philibus Andetur, regarding threats to her life and the unlawful occupation of her late husband’s properties. The widow has addressed a petition to the state Commissioner of Police.

Reports suggest that the conflict arose when the relatives of the deceased former Chief Judge postponed his burial ceremony without informing his wife.

In a letter sent to the state Police commissioner by her lawyer, Joshua Jeremiah, the widow claimed that her late husband’s family members have taken over her residence, disrupting her daily activities and preventing her relatives from mourning with her over her husband’s passing.

According to the letter, which was noted by NewsNow, it was clarified that the widow was legally married to the late Chief Judge. It also mentioned that the late Chief Judge had strained relationships with his family members until his passing in 2024.

“Our client was married to the late Hon. Justice Philibus Andetur until his death in 2024,” the letter stated.

The widow stated that those responsible for her distress have relocated her from her residence following her husband’s death.

The petition further highlighted that some family members have been intimidating the widow, demanding the late Chief Judge’s documents from her and pressuring her to withdraw and hand over a sum of over N1 million from her husband’s account.

In the letter, the widow urged the Commissioner of Police to ensure that the family members keep away from her residence, relocate the burial arrangements to the late Chief Judge’s alternate property in Nukkai, and allow her to mourn her husband peacefully.

Despite efforts by our reporter to obtain comments from the family, they were unsuccessful.

NewsNow mentioned that the former Chief Judge passed away in March 2024 after a brief illness.
