Suggestion to Tinubu: APC Leader Encouraged to Pursue Merger with NNPP for Resolution of Ganduje-Kwankwaso Conflict

An advice was given by Salihu Lukman, a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC), to President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday. He encouraged Tinubu to address and find a resolution to the political conflict between the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the ex-presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Lukman emphasized the importance for Tinubu and other APC leaders to tackle the political discord and consider negotiating a potential merger with the NNPP.

Pointing out the necessity of expanding the APC’s support base in Kano, Lukman suggested that a merger could be a strategic move.

Not confining the political challenges in Kano to just the bribery accusations against Ganduje, the APC chieftain advised Tinubu to approach the situation holistically.

He stated, “Operating as progressives demands transparency, and in light of the current political landscape, it is crucial to recognize that Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his NNPP have a solid support base in Kano State.”

“Given Sen. Kwankwaso’s previous membership in our party until 2018, and acknowledging the years of collaboration between both Sen. Kwankwaso and Dr. Ganduje from 1999 to 2019, it is imperative to address the issues surrounding their current disagreement,” Lukman added.

Emphasizing that APC leaders should not confine their focus solely to Ganduje’s bribery allegations, Lukman proposed, “If necessary, be open to further negotiations for a political partnership or merger with Sen. Kwankwaso and the NNPP, as deemed necessary for the greater good of the party.”

“It is essential for President Tinubu and the APC to leverage this opportunity to realign and strengthen the APC’s support base,” Lukman stressed, advocating for a rekindling of the party’s progressive principles.
