Elon Musk’s New Policy: Charging for Posts by New X Users

Breaking news from the world of microblogging as Elon Musk, the mastermind behind X, announces a groundbreaking change – new users will now be required to pay for posting on the platform.

In a strategic move to combat the rising presence of bots on X, Musk believes that charging new users is the most effective solution.

Responding to inquiries about the platform’s policy for newly registered accounts, Musk unveiled his plan to offer free posting privileges to new users after a three-month trial period.

Explaining the rationale behind the decision, Musk emphasized, “A nominal fee for new users’ writing access is essential to tackle the persistent bot invasion.”

He added, “Current AI technology, along with troll farms, can effortlessly bypass bot detection queries. Moreover, the influx of fake accounts results in many desirable usernames being unavailable.”

On October 17, 2023, Musk initiated a charge of $1 per year for new users from New Zealand and the Philippines on the platform.

This fee structure was implemented to grant users in these countries access to key features such as tweeting, retweeting, liking posts, and responding to content.
