Spanish Club, Valencia Reports 35% of Squad and Backroom Staff Testing Positive for Coronavirus

Valencia, a Spanish club, has officially announced that 35% of their squad and backroom staff have tested positive for coronavirus, with all cases currently being asymptomatic.

The La Liga team had previously disclosed five coronavirus cases on Sunday, with Ezequiel Garay from Argentina and Eliaquim Mangala from France among those infected.

Addressing the coronavirus situation at the club, Valencia provided a statement, saying: “Several additional COVID-19 coronavirus tests conducted among the coaching staff and players at Valencia have returned positive.”

“Despite the stringent measures implemented by the club after their Champions League game, these latest results indicate a positive test rate of around 35% due to the inherent exposure in such matches,” Valencia added.

“All cases are asymptomatic, and those affected are currently in isolation at home, receiving medical evaluation and following their prescribed training regimen.”

Internationally, the coronavirus has infected nearly 180,000 people and claimed over 7,000 lives.
