Recent defector from PDP joins APC ward in Ebonyi Assembly

Being formally welcomed into the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Izzi Unuhu Ward 10 in Abakaliki LGA, is Hon. Victor Chidi Nwoke, a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly who recently switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Alongside the Labour Party chairman in Abakaliki LGA, Mr Innocent Oriji, and the former leader of the Abakaliki legislative council, Hon. Emmanuel Nwandegu, Nwoke, who represents Abakaliki North Constituency, made the decision to defect.

During a ward stakeholders meeting chaired by its chairman, Hon. Emeka Nkwode, the defectors were received into the party with the presence of the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mbam Stanley Lebechi, SSA on Youth Mobilisation, Hon. Chinedu Emenike, and Prince Emeka Nwoba.

Expressing appreciation for the lawmaker and other defectors, Ward Chairman Nkwode praised them for their choice in their political journey.

He stated, “Today, we embrace you into APC wholeheartedly to collaborate with you in advancing the party and the state. We will provide you with the privileges enjoyed by all APC members in the Ward and ensure your complete registration.”

Also addressing the gathering was Commissioner for Works and Transport Mbam Stanley Lebechi, who declared that the defection had rendered PDP inactive in the Ward and the LGA.

Lebechi commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for unifying all political parties under APC through his effective governance, which included settling more than eight years’ worth of gratuities and pensions, offering business grants to hawkers, and providing scholarships for Ebonyi law school students within one year.

He assured the defectors of their inclusion in Governor Nwifuru’s leadership and emphasized his commitment to the welfare of the people.

Encouraging continued support for Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration, he called on the people to stand behind the Governor.

In response, Hon. Victor Nwoke expressed his joy at joining the party and urged cooperation among stakeholders for the party’s progress.

He indicated that his decision to join APC was motivated by Governor Nwifuru’s achievements and leadership style focused on the People’s Charter of Needs.

“The Governor of Ebonyi State exemplifies perfection, and I am proud to be associated with him,” Nwoke concluded.
