According to Rafa Benitez, former manager of Real Madrid and Liverpool, Manchester City is poised to emerge victorious in the race for the Premier League title this season.
The top spot is now held by City, with a two-point lead following surprising defeats for Arsenal and Liverpool against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, respectively, on Sunday.
Benitez foresees more slip-ups in the remaining six matches for all three teams, but he believes that Pep Guardiola’s squad will ultimately clinch the title.
During an appearance on Sky Sports, he remarked, “Manchester City is displaying a high level of confidence. Their squad depth is remarkable – they possess the ability to swap out three or four players and still secure victories comfortably.
“Could they falter similarly to how Liverpool and Arsenal did over the weekend? It’s certainly a possibility. However, given that the other teams are also prone to errors, I believe City holds a significant advantage.”
“After watching both matches, it was evident that Liverpool faced some unfortunate setbacks despite having noteworthy scoring opportunities.
“Arsenal, too, experienced a similar scenario where they dominated the first half but then struggled to maintain control, leading to them being under pressure in the latter stages of the game. The pressure of being in a must-win situation likely impacted them, just as it did Liverpool.”
