Indian Authorities Detain Nigerian Man for One Year Without Bail on Five Drug Peddling Cases

In a historic move, the Bengaluru City Police have applied the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, which allows for one-year detention without bail, to a suspected Nigerian drug peddler.   The individual in question, Makuko Chukwuka Mauolokwu, also known as Henry and aged 31, has been implicated in at least five drug peddling cases, as announced by Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) on Tuesday, March 17.   Henry, who originally arrived in India on a student visa, has allegedly been involved in the peddling of cocaine, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), commonly known as ecstasy, cannabis, and other narcotics. Confirmation from FG: New instances of Coronavirus reported in Nigeria

The Federal government has confirmed the emergence of five new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, increasing the total number of individuals with the virus in the country to eight.   Announced by the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, the three of the affected individuals arrived from the United States of America, including a mother and child, while the other two arrived from the UK. Additionally, four cases were identified in Lagos, with one case identified in Ekiti.

Coronavirus: FG announces travel entry restrictions from US, UK, China, Italy, France, Spain, others

The Federal Government has announced travel entry restrictions from several countries to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria. The affected countries include China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, and Switzerland. At a media briefing on Wednesday March 18th, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, revealed that the restrictions will come into effect from Friday 20 March 2020 for 4 weeks, subject to review. He also stated that visas issued to nationals from these countries will be temporarily suspended.
