World Renowned Boxer and Trainer, Roger Mayweather, Passes Away at 58
Roger Mayweather, a renowned boxer and trainer who was also the uncle of undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather, passed away at the age of 58.
The former American boxer, who had battled with diabetes, achieved the feat of a two-weight world champion in an illustrious 72-fight career spanning 17 years.
He served as the trainer for his nephew Floyd when he made his professional debut in 1996 for two years until Floyd Sr. was released from prison. Roger then resumed his role in 2000 and continued as his trainer until 2012, guiding Floyd to become the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
Confirming the sad news, Mayweather expressed, "My uncle was one of the most significant individuals in my life, both inside and outside of the ring."
