Oprah Winfrey has addressed the reports alleging that her house was raided and she was arrested on sex trafficking charges.
On Tuesday night, the media mogul’s name trended as the No. 1 topic on Twitter. Multiple reports claimed that her residence in Boca Raton, Florida, was undergoing a raid, and that she had been taken into custody on charges related to sex trafficking and possession of child pornography.
Several Twitter users expressed enthusiasm about the news, mocking her for producing documentaries about men accused of sexual assault while having her own controversies.
However, it has been revealed that the rumors were unfounded and were initiated by QAnon, a far-right group known for concocting outlandish conspiracy theories based around an anonymous individual known as “Q.”
Oprah took to Twitter to dispel the rumors, stating:
Just received a phone call that my name is trending. And being trolled for some awful FAKE thing. It’s NOT TRUE. Haven’t been raided, or arrested. Just sanitizing and self distancing with the rest of the world. Stay safe everybody.
