In a surprising turn of events, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has taken the decision to order the immediate release of Mr. Chima Nwoba, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from detention.
During a recent Holy Mass at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki, Nwifuru made the announcement, calling for compassion and understanding in the case involving Mr. Nwoba and the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Oguzor Offia-Nwali.
He also appealed to the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Mrs. Grace Umezurike, to uphold the recent court ruling related to Chima Nwoba’s bail and assist in ensuring he fulfills the bail conditions.
Mr. Nwoba has been held in custody since February following his petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) implicating Offia-Nwali in the alleged misappropriation of N3 billion designated for empowerment initiatives.
