FG Imposes Ban on Foreign Trips for Government Officials due to Coronavirus

To prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, the Federal Government has implemented a ban on all its officials from undertaking foreign trips.   This decision was communicated by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, following the inaugural meeting of the Presidential Task Force Team on the COVID-19, which took place on Tuesday, March 17th.   Mustapha also offered advice to Nigerians returning from abroad, urging them to self-isolate for 14 days to avoid posing a threat to their immediate environment.

Blaise Matuidi, Juventus Midfielder, Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Blaise Matuidi, the midfielder for Juventus and France, has become the latest footballer to have tested positive for the coronavirus.   The club's website released a statement that said: "Blaise Matuidi has undergone medical tests that have revealed his positivity to the Coronavirus-COVID-19.   "The player has been in voluntary home isolation since Wednesday, 11th March. He will continue to be monitored and will follow the same regime. He is well and is asymptomatic." The Cultism and Other Violent Behaviour (Prohibition) Order, 2020 has been signed into law by the Akwa Ibom State Government. This move comes after recent cult-related violence and unrest in schools. Governor Udom Emmanuel has proscribed 51 cult groups and societies, in addition to the 14 other groups that were previously proscribed in 2018. The proscription order, signed by the Governor yesterday, took effect on March 16, 2020.
