Osun REC, Agboke: BVAS Enhances Electoral Process in Nigeria

Dr Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, emphasized that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) continues to play a crucial role in improving the integrity of elections in Nigeria. He reiterated that BVAS remains a significant game changer in the electoral landscape.

During a visit by the Osun Online Publishers Association to the INEC state office, Dr Agboke highlighted the importance of BVAS in maintaining the credibility of the electoral process. He stated the ongoing efforts to enhance public perception and confidence in BVAS before each election.

Addressing challenges such as vote buying and election violence, Dr Agboke underscored the need for sustained engagement with stakeholders to address these issues effectively. He emphasized the importance of educating the public to discourage unethical practices during elections.

Looking ahead to upcoming elections in Osun State, Dr Agboke outlined plans for voter education initiatives. He emphasized the significance of engaging political parties and ensuring adherence to electoral guidelines and technological processes to build trust and confidence in the electoral system.

Dr Agboke stressed that INEC’s role is crucial in fostering collaboration with all key stakeholders and carrying out activities that promote transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
