APC Confirms Ganduje Continues as National Chairman

In a recent interview on Arise Television, the All Progressives Congress (APC) reiterated that Abdullahi Ganduje, former governor of Kano State, remains the national chairman of the party, as stated by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka.

The party stands firm in its decision not to comply with the initial court order that purportedly suspended Ganduje from his position.

Morka emphasized that the national chairman has not received any official summons regarding the court order and expressed support for the recent ruling by the Kano Federal High Court, which called for a stay on the order.

The political upheaval in Kano took a new turn when Justice A.M Liman of the Federal High Court reversed the suspension of Ganduje by his ward executives in Dawakin Tofa Local Government area of the state.

Ganduje sought to uphold his right to a fair hearing through an exparte motion, with the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and nine others as respondents in the application.

Responding to these developments, Morka justified the party’s stance, stating that those behind the suspension were not legitimate party members, and pointed out the caution exercised by the judiciary in making far-reaching ex parte orders.

“The order issued by the first court was very concerning for multiple reasons,” Morka said. “The plaintiffs lacked standing as recognized party members and, as legal practitioners are aware, there is a general cautiousness in making impactful ex parte orders.”
