Nigerian Navy seizes illegal drugs and arrests 3 suspects in Akwa Ibom

The Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base, FOB, Ibaka, Akwa Ibom, has confiscated illegal drugs and apprehended three suspected drug dealers in the state. The Commanding Officer, Capt. Uche Aneke, revealed this development in Ibaka on Thursday when he handed over the suspects to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
According to Capt. Uche Aneke, the suspects were apprehended around 10 am on Tuesday based on credible information provided by a member of the public. The individuals were intercepted on a fiber boat transporting approximately 4,320 ampoules of Pethidine 100 mg/2ml injection solution, a controlled synthetic opioid substance known for its high addictive properties.
Emphasizing the navy’s dedication to eradicating criminal activities in the waterways, Capt. Uche Aneke stated, “We are fully committed to using advanced technologies to detect and deter criminal activities in the waterways.”
Upon receiving the suspects, Emmanuel Okon, Chief Superintendent of Narcotics at the NDLEA Command in Akwa Ibom, assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the matter.
