Successful Police Operation in Bauchi: 3 Rescued, 8 Bandits Killed

Collaborating with local hunters, the Bauchi Police Command successfully rescued three kidnapped victims from captivity. Additionally, in an operation conducted on April 22, 2024, the command eliminated eight bandits operating near the borders of Bauchi and Plateau states based on credible intelligence on their suspicious activities.

On Thursday, a statement by SP Ahmed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed that detectives from Gumau, Tilde, and Tulu divisions encountered armed bandits during a routine patrol. A confrontation ensued, leading to the neutralisation of four suspected kidnappers.

Two of the deceased suspects had confessed to various kidnapping incidents in Bauchi and Plateau states, including the brutal killing of a village head in Ruruwai village, Lame District, Toro LGA, Bauchi State, on March 17, 2024.

Following the information provided by the deceased suspects, the detectives proceeded to the kidnappers’ hideout and successfully rescued three captives from Dokayel village, who had been taken hostage on April 20, 2024.

Engaging in a firefight with the remaining culprits guarding the captives, four more kidnappers were neutralised, resulting in the safe rescue of the hostages without any ransom being paid, as described in the statement.
