LP National Convention: Journalists prevented from coverage, leading to arrests

Entry to the Grand Seasons Hotel in Nnewi, Anambra State, where the Labour Party’s National Convention is taking place, has been denied to journalists.

Heavy security measures are in place at the hotel due to the ongoing party crisis, reports NewsNow.

Despite requests via calls and text messages, the party’s spokesperson, Obiorah Ifoh, declined to grant access to journalists with proper tags.

Five individuals, described as troublemakers, were apprehended at the venue and apprehended for interrogation at the police headquarters.

These individuals were distributing provocative flyers criticizing the party’s leadership and allegedly attempting to disrupt the convention.

According to a party insider, the aim of these culprits and their backers was to create chaos during the convention.

The Labour Party has been embroiled in a leadership dispute over the national chairman position, causing significant concern among political observers.
