Benue State Government Provides Aid to IDPs During Easter

Assistance is being extended by the Benue State Government to individuals displaced by attacks from herdsmen in the state. The aid consists of essential food and non-food items.

Leading the distribution was the Acting Executive Secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency, BSEMA, James Iorpuu. This distribution took place at the BSEMA headquarters in Makurdi on behalf of the State Governor.

In his address, Iorpuu outlined that the distribution aims at Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps and those recently displaced in communities such as Kwande, Katsina–Ala, Ukum, Apa, Okpokwu, Agatu, and Guma.

The distribution was organized as part of the Governor’s commitment to assisting displaced populations affected by various disasters, including armed herdsmen attacks. This initiative is aligned with the spirit of Easter and the Governor’s ongoing efforts to provide food assistance to those in need.

Iorpuu praised the Governor for consistently addressing the challenges faced by IDPs, ensuring that all relief materials would reach the recipients before Easter.

The aid package includes thousands of bags of 25kg rice, beans, maize, and Garri, along with hundreds of gallons of red and vegetable oil. Additionally, non-food items like mattresses, detergents, and soap were also distributed.
