Announcing on Twitter, British actor Idris Elba disclosed that he tested positive for coronavirus, despite being asymptomatic.
In a video shared on Monday, March 16, Elba explained that he decided to undergo medical tests after being in contact with an individual who had also tested positive. He then went into self-quarantine upon learning of the person’s positive test result.
He conveyed, “This morning I tested positive for COVID-19. I feel OK, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic. It sucks. Looks, this is serious. Now’s the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands.”
Elba now adds to the growing list of public figures who have confirmed positive coronavirus diagnoses, including Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko.
