Gary Neville Reveals Toughest Opponents During EPL Days, Sheds Light on Facing Ronaldo

Gary Neville, the former Manchester United captain, shared insights on facing his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford, expressing that he was never daunted by the challenge.

Reflecting on his time at Manchester United’s Carrington training ground, Neville discussed the most formidable players he encountered during the peak of Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure as manager.

A highly-regarded full-back in his playing days, Neville reminisced about playing against world-class talents while under Ferguson’s guidance.

In a conversation with England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold on The Overlap, Neville recounted, “I had a few encounters with Cristiano Ronaldo when he switched to my side, and it was a tough challenge.”

He continued, “However, I sensed that even he found it challenging. He was relatively young at that time, whereas I had gained significant experience.”

Neville emphasized, “I remained composed as I had the opportunity to face him daily. I always emphasize that the real tests came during training sessions against the likes of Giggs, Ronaldo, and Rooney.”
