Former Governor Suswam Highlights External Pressure Impacting PDP

In a recent interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam pointed out that external influences are working against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), making it less effective as a viable opposition party.

Suswam expressed disappointment in how the PDP has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians post-2023 elections due to the meddling of external forces.

He attributed the party’s current ineffectiveness to the shortcomings of its leadership, suggesting that a leadership overhaul is necessary for any progress. According to Suswam, the party is being controlled by hidden forces, causing it to remain stagnant.

He also criticized the PDP for not convening a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to address internal issues. Suswam highlighted the fallout from the 2022 presidential primary election, where a faction of governors went against the party’s chosen candidate for the 2023 presidential race.

Suswam emphasized the leadership’s failure to discipline members who acted against the party’s interests, leading to a weakening of the PDP. He underscored the need for the party to take action against those openly working against its goals.
