Expecting a Tough Contest: Banyana Boss Looking Forward to Clash with Super Falcons in 2024 Olympic Qualifier

Desiree Ellis, the head coach of Banyana Banyana from South Africa, acknowledges the challenge of facing Nigeria in the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games qualifier.

The reigning African champions are set to take on the Super Falcons in a two-legged final qualifying round tie scheduled for next month.

The victorious team will secure a spot in Group C at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Preparations for the qualifiers have already begun for Banyana Banyana.

Ellis recognizes the difficulty of defeating the quality Super Falcons team.

Expressing her thoughts on the upcoming match, she stated, “We still have some time before announcing the final squad, so it is crucial for me to ensure the right combinations are in place.”

“Facing Nigeria won’t be an easy task. They have consistently shown their quality and remain a high-caliber team, so we need to perform at our best level,” she added.

“Finding the right mix of youth and experience is essential, so we must focus on getting the combinations right,” Ellis emphasized.

The initial leg of the qualifier will be held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday, April 5.

Subsequently, the teams will face off in the return fixture in Pretoria four days later.
