Delta State Monarch Ogenerukeywe Handed Over to Military by Police

Confirmation has been made that the police have surrendered the wanted traditional leader, King Clement Ikolo Ogenerukeywe of Ewu Kingdom in Delta State, to the military.

According to statements from Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, this transfer was approved.

Police Commissioner Abaniwonda Olufemi disclosed that Ogenerukeywe voluntarily presented himself shortly after he and seven others were declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters on Thursday.

Reportedly, the monarch appeared at the Police Command headquarters precisely at 6:41 PM.

In a television interview with TVC before surrendering himself, the monarch refuted allegations linking him to the killing of 17 soldiers in the Okuama community.

He stated, “I am completely astonished and shocked to find my name, as the monarch of the Kingdom, listed among wanted individuals. I am not involved in any killings or promoting violence. Such acts contradict my beliefs as a human being and a Catholic; it is against everything I stand for.”

He added, “This is a grievous offence against humanity, and I urge authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to identify the actual perpetrators and ensure justice prevails. I have no part in this criminal act. The state government is already aware of my innocence.”
