Proposed Replacement for Mo Salah in Liverpool’s Winger Position, According to Mark Lawrenson

Mark Lawrenson, a Liverpool legend, suggests that West Ham United winger, Jarrod Bowen, could be a suitable option to potentially replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield during the summer transfer window. Finding a direct replacement for Salah may be challenging, but Lawrenson believes Bowen’s adaptability, goal-scoring prowess, and strong work ethic make him a viable candidate for the Reds.

Bowen has been impressive this season, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists in 28 Premier League matches for West Ham. With seven caps for England under his belt, he has also demonstrated his ability to play effectively in various attacking positions.

Speculation about Salah’s departure has been circulating, prompting Lawrenson to consider Bowen as a valuable addition to Liverpool, should the Egyptian forward decide to leave. Lawrenson also acknowledges Liverpool’s defensive shortcomings and suggests that the club may prioritize signing a new centre-back alongside potential attacking reinforcements.

Although Lawrenson acknowledges that Salah’s replacement won’t replicate the Egyptian star’s impact easily, he sees Bowen as a strong contender to step into Salah’s shoes at Liverpool if the need arises.

Lawrenson shared his thoughts with Paddy Power, stating, “The possibility of Jarrod Bowen moving to Liverpool is quite real. He is versatile across the front line, contributes goals, and shows commitment. While finding another Mo Salah is unlikely, Bowen adds defensive work rate to his attributes, making him a well-rounded choice. Liverpool may have financial constraints, possibly prioritizing a centre-back signing over an attacking replacement for Salah.”
