A man in Bauchi court fined N100,00 after sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy

Sentencing took place at the Bauchi State High Court where Justice Mu’azu Abubakar handed a 14-year jail term to Sa’idu Mohammed, a 39-year-old man who was found guilty of sodomizing a 12-year-old boy.

In addition to the jail term, Justice Abubakar provided the convict with an alternative option of paying a N100,000 fine.

Prior to the sentencing, the convict had pleaded for leniency from the judge.

During the court proceedings, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr S.M. Toro, detailed that the convict, on June 16, 2022, enticed the young victim to a river in the Yelwa community where the heinous act took place.

This act was in violation of the statutes outlined in Section 10 and is punishable under Section 11 of the anti-Kidnapping, theft of cattle and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007.
