USM Alger Asks for Rescheduling of Rivers United Match in CAF Confederation Cup

USM Alger, the Algerian team, has raised a concern to the Confederation of African Football regarding the timing of their upcoming CAF Confederation quarter-final fixture against Rivers United.

The game, set to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, is scheduled to commence at 2pm on Sunday.

While the defending champions are geared up for the showdown, they are expressing dissatisfaction with the current match timing.

USM Alger has pointed out that the observance of Ramadan fasting is prompting them to seek a shift in the scheduled game time.

It is worth noting that CAF changed the game time from 5pm to 2pm earlier this week.

In a statement, the team mentioned, “Our team management received correspondence from CAF, indicating a change in the match timing against Rivers United in the CAF Quarterfinals, moved from 17:00 to 14:00 at the request of Rivers FC.”

The statement further added, “Hence, we would like to inform our supporters that the management of USM Alger has formally reached out to the Confederation of African Football, seeking to challenge the decision in setting the match time while considering the fasting regulations acknowledged by CAF during the CAF Cup quarter-finals draw.”
