Delta Police Apprehend 38-Year-Old Motorcyclist with Firearm and Illegal Substances


On a routine patrol along the Oviri-Ogor road, the Eagle-Net Special Squad Surveillance Team captured a 38-year-old motorcyclist known as Orji Timothy.

Timothy was found with a homemade double-barrel pistol containing two live cartridges, twenty sachets of 100mg Tramadol, a sachet of Swinol, and two cutlasses in Ughelli community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Police officers initially stopped the suspect on his motorcycle on 24/04/2024, around 14:45 hrs.

Upon inspection, a substantial amount of what seemed to be Indian hemp was discovered in his possession.

Confirming the incident, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, mentioned in a statement sent to NewsNow.

Edafe highlighted that due to the recovery of the Indian hemp, the 38-year-old motorcyclist, Orji Timothy residing at No. 21 Olotu Street, Ughelli, was taken into custody.

Providing further details, SP Edafe stated, “The search was extended to the suspect’s place of residence where a homemade double-barrel pistol with live cartridges, twenty sachets of 100mg Tramadol, one sachet of Swinol, and two cutlasses were seized.”

SP Edafe added, “The investigation is presently ongoing.”
