Trump announces a "energetic ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine of character "immediate"

The US president, Donald Trump, announced this Sunday an “energy ceasefire” with immediate effect in the war between Ukraine and Russia by which both parties would renounce attacking the other’s oil and electrical facilities.

“Effective immediately, there is an energy ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine,” Donald Trump said in a message posted on social media. “Both parties have agreed. Don’t break it!” he stressed.

This same Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had offered to stop attacking Russian oil refineries, as requested by the United States, in exchange for Russia ceasing attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

The Ukrainian president had been highly criticized by Trump for the attacks against Russian refineries, to which he attributes the high price of fuel worldwide. Trump had even called for a new president for Ukraine.
