Responding to a distress call, troops engaged in counter-terrorism operations in the North West region collaborated with the Department of State Services (DSS) to intercept an armed terrorist group threatening the Modachi general area of Isa Local Government Area in Sokoto State.
The Nigerian Army authority stated that the intervention was crucial to preventing a potential catastrophe and saving lives in Sokoto State.
An official statement revealed, “The joint operation successfully neutralized several terrorists and seized a significant arsenal of weapons.”
“The terrorists, traveling on multiple motorbikes, faced strong resistance from the security forces, resulting in the elimination of seven militants,” the statement disclosed.
The operation also led to the confiscation of seven AK-47 rifles, four motorbikes, two mobile phones, and four machetes. This successful mission underscores the unwavering commitment of security forces to combat terrorism and restore peace in volatile regions.
“The prompt and resolute actions taken by the troops and the DSS team prevented a potential disaster, protecting numerous lives in Sokoto State,” the statement emphasized.
