Rivers State High Court Sentences Two Individuals to Death by Hanging for Murder

In the case of the murder of Bestman Wagbara, a woman named Telma Bestman and a security guard named Wilson Okelekele have been sentenced to death by hanging by a Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt.

Justice Augusta Kingsley-Chukwu, who delivered the verdict, confirmed that the prosecution successfully established the conspiracy and murder charges against the two defendants.

It was revealed that Telma conspired with Okelekele to facilitate the killing of her husband, Wagbara. She allowed Okelekele to enter her husband’s room through the back door, where the security guard committed the crime.

After the judgment was given, it was ruled by Justice Kingsley-Chukwu that both Telma and Okelekele would face the death penalty by hanging.

The murder of Wagbara was orchestrated by Telma and Okelekele at their residence located along the Saint John axis of Rumuolumeni-Ogbogoro link Road, in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state on February 13, 2020.

Chief State Counsel from the Rivers State Ministry of Justice, Previous Ordu, expressed satisfaction with the judgment, describing it as the rightful administration of justice, while Prince Ubojiekere Amadi, representing Okelekele, expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling and mentioned plans to file an appeal following a review of the judgment for further legal action.
