Tragic Incident in Akwa Ibom as Son Fatally Attacks his Mother

Unsettling events unfolded in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State when a 70-year-old woman, Mma-Offiong James Peter, fell victim to a fatal attack by her own son, Inyangake James Peter.

The suspect was apprehended by authorities on April 4, 2024, around 9:00 am, citing inner voices as the driving force behind his heinous act.

A statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Command, Odiko Macdon, shed light on the shocking incident.

The statement mentioned, “Inyangake James Peter, aged 40, has been taken into custody by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for the gruesome murder of his biological mother, Mma-Offiong James Peter, approximately 70 years of age, on 4/4/2024 at 9:00 am in Ikpe Annang Village, Etim Ekpo LGA.

“The confessed suspect has been moved to the state CID for thorough investigation.

“During questioning, the suspect explained that he succumbed to a relentless inner voice urging him to carry out the dreadful act.”

In a parallel development, it was disclosed in the statement that another individual, Solomon Asuquo Isaac, had been arrested for his involvement in the fatal altercation with his son amid familial discord.

The statement continued, “Also in custody is Solomon Asuquo Isaac from Ikot Obok Nsit in Nsit Ibom LGA, who fatally injured his son, Iboro Isaac, aged 18, last year following a family dispute.

“The escalating instances of family members resorting to violence within their own kin have become a focal point of concern for the Command recently.

The statement also outlined the detention of another individual for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
